Throughout school I never felt inspired to follow a career in technology. I perceived the industry to be overly technical and boring, not something that girls are meant to be a part of. It wasn’t until I began competing in technology competitions that I discovered the huge misconception that exists - that technology is in fact a powerful tool available to solve society's biggest problems. I believe that by promoting the industry for its innovative potential, we can inspire greater interest in women to enter the field, as it did inspire me.
I am hopeful that my entrepreneurial mindset may one day help me to scale a disruptive startup to IPO, or to deliver a transformative innovation within a large organisation, or to grow a non-for-profit with deep social impacts. Novel applications of data science and machine learning intrigue me the most, particularly when applied in the healthcare sector.
